COURSE INFORMATION

Rope Rescue – Level II (High Angle Rope Rescue) 
This is a three-day program that deals with more advanced rescue techniques to meet specific needs and applications of dynamic situations.

PURPOSE: 
To understand and use procedures, equipment and techniques needed to implement a safe rescue of a casualty at height.

OBJECTIVE: 
This more advanced rope work course is for students to utilize basic techniques to solve varied and compounded problems, through practical scenarios based on simulated rescue situations.

  • Legislation (Requirement for Pre-Planned Rescue)
  • Hazard Assessment & Control
  • Structure Assessment (Anchors)
  • Basic Physics of Rigging Systems
  • Essential Knot Tying Techniques
  • Advantages & Limitations of Rope & Rescue Equipment
  • Proper Use & Maintenance of Equipment
  • Additional Safety Concerns (Analyzing Force Vectors, Edge Attendants)
  • Personnel Communication & Systems

Skills:

  • Ascending of Various Systems
  • Rappelling on Various Descending Devices
  • Appropriate Techniques for Belay
  • Pick-off a Casualty Hanging on a FA Lanyard
  • Lowering of a Casualty to a Safe Position on the Ground
  • Mechanical Advantages & Rigging of Haul Systems
  • Patient Packaging
  • Raising & Lowering of Patient in Litter Basket with an Attendant
  • Utilizing Changes of Direction
  • Utilizing Communication Systems
  • Special Application Rescue Equipment
  • Participants receive a student manual in which they are able to follow along and take required notes as part of their participation.
  • Upon successful completion of the required exam with a minimum score of 75% you will receive a Certificate of Completion
  • Full participation and extensive hands-on demonstrations are required by each participant to successfully complete this program.

Note:
With any High Angle Rescue Program, it is strongly recommended to set up an internal maintenance program for continual training and experience.
