OFA Level 1 Endorsement (Equivalency Program)


The Canadian Red Cross – WEFA (Workplace Emergency First Aid) program provides the additional certification that satisfies the WorkSafe BC requirements for OFA  Level 1 (Occupational First Aid).

This equivalency  program was designed specifically to meet the requirements of British Columbia (BC) workplaces. It instructs workers how to deal with the most common workplace first-aid emergencies.

Program includes CPR Level A (Adult), choking procedures as well as emergency scene management, dealing with shock, spinal injuries, minor wound management, major bleeding, internal bleeding, poisons and minor burns. Students will also be trained to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

  • Check Call Care
  • Airway Emergencies (Adult)
  • Breathing and Circulation Emergencies (Adult)
  • Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest (Adult)
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • Minor Wound Management
  • Injury Follow Up and Documentation

Upon successful completion of the course material and a written examination, the student will be issued a certificate that is valid for a period of 2 years.

NOTE: Prerequisite, the participants must be at least 16 years old
